Horse Riding

There are two possibilities for horse riding, both within twenty minutes of Château Plombis:

  • Lauzinie – 14.5km / 15 minutes
Ferme auberge and equestrian centre on the road to Rocquecor and Montaigu de Quercy.  Fantastic regional rustic cooking done over an open fire in the auberge.
  • Ecurie de Saint Damien 16km / 18 minutes
Riding for all ages from 4 years upwards, either in the sand school or on bridle paths and tracks with views across the Séoune valley to the bastide of Puymirol.

Cycling is almost the national sport (obviously, it has the famous and historic Tour de France every year) and you’ll see plenty of serious amateur or club cyclists out enjoying the roads in this area.  The region offers stunning countryside, quiet roads and beautiful places to aim for.  There are plenty of challenging hills, if that’s what you like, or for a more gentle pedal on the flat try La Voie Verte, a cycle/pedestrian path running the length of the Canal des Deux Mers, which you can join at Valence d’Agen.

There are plenty of places here at the château to keep your own bikes under cover, or we can arrange bike hire for you.
